Fuse Blowing

fuseboard

This is a Wylex fuse box fitted with rewirable fuses. This type of fuse box was very popular in Britain until 2001 when wiring regulations changed to specify that all cables embedded in walls (excepting high integrity circuits like burglar or smoke alarms) required RCD protection. The change occurred because a rewireable fuse might protect a circuit from overload but it is not capable of providing immediate disconnection of the power supply to prevent what could be a fatal electric shock. There are a number of Wylex fuse boxes still being used which is okay, unless an electrical inspection has found issues with reference to British Safety Standards.
